Home/Accommodation
Where you'll sleep
Seven bungalows and one lodge, in six styles. Sago leaf, wild beetle nut and local timber, with the beach a few steps off your deck.
Built by hand, from the bush
The same things in every room
All bungalows at Papatura Island Retreat are constructed using traditional materials such as sago leaf and wild beetle nut. All have large decks facing the Isabel mountain range and sit a few steps back from the white sandy beach and crystal-clear water, tucked away between the coco palms, orchids and local plants.
Every room is fitted out with LED lighting, inner-spring mattresses, mossie nets, fans and 240v Australian power outlets. Bath towels are supplied — please bring your own toiletries. We have one porta-cot available for those with babies, so please reserve it when booking.

Package rates are based on the Rainforest Lodge. The surcharge shown is per person, per night, on top of that.
Rainforest Lodge
Three rooms sharing a large common deck, a tree-top terrace and the island's newest bathroom. Surrounded by orchids, banana and paw paw trees.
Large Double Story
Near the jetty, right on the water. A huge upper level plus a lower room at the water's edge. Ideal for a family or a small group.
Double Story Bungalow
On the western side of the jetty, right on the water's edge. Two separate bedrooms, and one of the largest bathrooms north of Honiara.
Family Bungalows
Our three largest bungalows. Split level, enclosed deck with waterfront views, a private indoor-outdoor bathroom and a small fridge.
Sunset Bungalow
Our most private bungalow, at the western end of the island. King four-poster bed, private jetty, outdoor shower and the best sunsets on Papatura.
Love Nest Bungalow
King bed, day beds on a private deck, outdoor shower and a timber swimming platform with steps into the warm water below.
Everything else
The bits between the bungalows
Raised timber walkways link the bungalows, bathrooms, restaurant and bar — and we're proud to say the retreat is wheelchair friendly. The whole place has a 180-degree view across the bay to the coconut groves and the Isabel mountain range.
Above the bar is the library, lounge and chill zone. Take one, leave one on the novels; the Solomon Islands, WW2 and cultural books stay put.
